Creative collections

I was asked recently, to supply photos for a 'Meet the Maker' article on the Made in Bristol blog.  They wanted studio shots, tools of the trade stuff and also 'inspiration' shots.  I discovered that I really enjoyed gathering and recording the items that are currently inspiring me.  It could the beginning of a series of photos.

After the art trail I had almost sold out of all my jewellery, so I have been beavering away this week to make up orders of jewellery for various shops and galleries.

Today I took a little bundle off to the lovely MAKERS.  Makers is a new gallery/shop in Bristol's creative quarter. Set up by Jo Boyd, Sally Dove, Sarah Salaman and Dora McCormack - all artist/makers in their own right.  The gallery has hand made interiors, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, architectural glass, print making and loads more besides, I am delighted to have been asked to show some of my work along side them and others in their shop.  Check out their blog - makersbristol.blogspot and if you're local go and take a peek at the lovely things they have there.

Arts Trail weekend

The day after the Southville Arts Trail is always a slightly strange one.  It’s such a busy weekend, spent talking almost constantly with visitors, and the adrenalin that goes with that means that by Monday I am generally rather spaced out and unable to concentrate on anything useful......so as today the sun is shining I have decided to actually just STOP and not try to do anything [as I’ll only end up having to do it all over again].
It was a really busy and jolly event - with a mildly boozy preview on the Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday saw a huge number of people come through our temporary  basement gallery. This year there was a pirate theme and many costumes were sported.

We had most of the usual family crowd showing:

Steve Broadway [my Pa] - Photography [although he wasn’t there in person as he’s spending an 8 week placement on the tiny Scottish island of Iona - we missed him]

We were also joined by three of my lovely friends, whom I met just because we happend to have babies at the same time, only to discover later that we all share an interest in art:

I have added these hastily taken photos of the space when it had finally all been hung and the clutter removed just before everyone arrived on Friday evening.
